Transparency of voice and light

The diploma thesis entitled Transparency of Voice and Light presents an audiovisual installation, the theme of which is individual reflection of the environment through the creation of fictional stories. In his work, the author also deals with the possibility of overlaps with own previous works and with the creation of a thematic interconnection. The installation links a set of subjective fictional narratives. The installation is scenographic in nature and represents a platform for telling personal statements and ideas.
Prednasky.com - a framework for automatic data processing

This bachelor's thesis presents the design and implementation of a framework for automated multimedia data processing in Python. The created framework enables the user to decompose the editing process into atomic tasks, which can be run in a computer cluster, and handles their interconnection including automatic dependency resolution. The framework's functionality has been successfully tested using tasks to process recordings of lectures. Also, a web interface has been created, which enables the administrator to manage the system and lecturers to submit lecture recordings for processing.

Title: Approximants in a perception and production of Czech students Abstract: This work investigates the characteristics of three French approximants [j] - [] - [w]. First, they are analysed by historical, articulatory, and accoustic points of view. There is a brief summary of the problems and development of the terminology. We compare their appearance in French with their appearance in Czech. In the experimental part, there are studies of perception and of production by Czech students. We use an analysis of forms and of recordings in which we identify specific mistakes. Then, we look for the reasons for these mistakes in order to propose some solutions and ways to prevent them and, eventual-ly, check them. This thesis set up a compact system of activities and methods in receptive appropriation and active appropriation.

American recording industry and its specifics

This diploma thesis deals with complex issue of American recording industry and its specifics in retail industry. The thesis is composed of three main parts which are being linked with its theme, and they complement one another. The first part is a theoretical framework of American recording industry. The chapters pursue basic terminology of music market, analysis of business environment in the USA and comparison of the recorded music to other entertainment markets. The second part engages in history of the recorded music, yet it specially concentrates on market's outputs, i.e. volume of sold recordings and corresponding revenues for the period 1989-2012. Eventually, the final part thoroughly studies music business, its subjects and principles. Chapters describe and analyze the profile of American music consumer, the theory of music copyright and financial aspects of recording as well as music publishing.
